FAQ

Can Wound³ be used without an internet connection?

Wound³’s onboard computation allows it to capture, render, and analyze a wound on the user’s iPhone or iPad without any server resources. As a result, hospitals with poor wifi or patients living in rural locations will not have trouble adopting Wound³.

What are the benefits of 3D scanning over traditional or mobile 2D scanning techniques?

Human wounds rely on granulation rather can contraction for wound healing, meaning the wound will heal from the bottom-up rather than from the perimeter. Consequently, two-dimensional characteristics such as length, width, and projected area are misrepresentative of a Wound³ healing progress.

Are physical references required when using the Wound³ platform?

Wound³’s proprietary 3D engine is able to deduce real-world dimensions with just the captured photo and its metadata; references like stickers, rulers, or markers are not needed to capture an accurate wound measurement.

Removing the dependency of physical references results in truly contactless wound care, reducing the risk of infection. Additionally, patients, clinicians, and caretakers do not need to restock disposable references, saving costs and increasing platform adoptibility.

What is the current standard of care for chronic wound measurement?

Disposable rulers and acetate sheets are the most commonly used tools for measuring wounds in modern health care. By nature, these measurement techniques are only capable of producing two-dimensional measurements. Furthermore, these measurements are typically limited to length, width, and projected area measurements, which effectively approximates a wound as a rectangle.

Can Wound³ be integrated with EMRs?

The Wound³ Beta formats cumulative patient data in pdf format so it can easily be exported and appended to any electronic medical record (EMR) system.
